Welcome to Casa Bambini Blackburn.
Casa Bambini Blackburn provides care and education for children between 6 weeks to 6 years. For your convenience, nappies and nutritious meals are provided.
The centre is purpose built with attention given to colour and design to create learning spaces which feel like the children’s own rooms. The centre boasts age appropriate services, facilities and resources.
Our welcoming environment is considered the “third teacher”. The Casa Bambini team carefully organise spaces for small and large group projects and small intimate spaces for one, two or three children.
Our programs are inspired by Reggio Emilia and our landscaped gardens have been designed to enhance and enrich your child’s imagination, creativity and sense of wonder.
At Casa Bambini we have a distinctive philosophy and innovative curriculum pedagogy and method of organisation which recognises the potential of young children to question, reflect, problem solve, theorise, experiment and express their findings.
Our Kindergarten program is supported by the Victorian Government.
Hi, my name is Marta and I am a Pedagogue.
Pedagogy is the social science that studies Education and human beings under many different aspects, from childhood, to teenagers, adulthood and geriatric age. It’s not only about the art of teaching, is about the art and science of getting to know how human beings process information, relate to others and learn.
For 20 years I have worked for people and with people. I started my carer back in Italy (did I tell you I am a very proud Italian?) working in schools as a support teacher for children differently abled. I then decided to move to a very different environment and for a few years I worked as an Educator in a prison for the under aged. Yes, in a prison! I always felt very blessed to be born in a loving family, in a rich country and I wanted to give back to the world, to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged. About to finish my Bachelor (I have been working and studying since I was 16!), I felt I had to take a drastic approach to life, I had to give back and discover the beauty of the world. I decided to do a research thesis about the fighting soldiers of Sierra Leone and what was meant to be a 3 months trip turned out to be a 1 year stay and above all a life changing experience. An epiphany. I then knew deep in my bones that my place would be the big world around me and with lots of sweat and study and persistence I finally got a job with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Project Manager for social/educational programs in developing countries. From 2003 to 2010 I have been working and living in Afghanistan, Palestine, Indonesia and Peru. This life experience is my biggest treasure, it has been hard and harsh at times but I would never want anything different for my life.
I am a fighter; I am one of six children in a one income family. Organization of resources, budgeting, sharing and being part of a team are almost part of my DNA! I believe Education is the key factor for a better world, it is the bridge that needs to be built and extended every day from what we are to what we can be. I believe Education is an ever changing blanket which will change colour or pattern as the fashion goes, but the quality sits with the prime material and the wise weaving of the threads. I have studied many different theories and approaches and I don’t belong specifically or strictly to any one of them. I have been very lucky to have had mentors in my life who taught me how to think and not what to think. This is my responsibility now with my staff and the beautiful children at our centre: help and support the creation and modelling of independent, autonomous thinkers. Respect is a fundamental element paramount for people to learn and to think, respect for themselves, for people around them and the environment they are in.
I love my job. Being a Centre Manager for a rather big childcare centre brings new challenges every day, pushes you to be a better person every day and keeps my very curious mind busy and focused.
Childcare feeds my desire to contribute to a better world and I put forth my best effort every day. I feel an ethical responsibility towards children and I just enjoy the way they challenge you, with their questions, actions and tantrums!
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.

Reviews and Testimonials
Here’s what some of our parents have to say about our centre:
“We have been at Casa Bambini for close to 4 years and would highly recommend it! We have always been impressed by the high standard of care our boys receive. The premises are lovely and Jen cooks up a storm in the kitchen for the kids!”
“I have been so thrilled with Casa Bambini since I first enrolled my son there in 2009. He is now about to enter the four year old kinder program, while his little sister will be going into Toddler Room next year. I am frequently observing gentle and heart warming moments between the carers and my children, whether it is around a learning opportunity, an emotional moment, or an exciting acheivement. I would (and do) recommend Casa Bambini to my friends – when they are pregnant – get in early! It is also a beautifully presented centre (gorgeous calm neutral tones rather than harsh bright colours) and all of the staff seem to share a positive vibe and philosophy. Thanks Casa, and well done!”
“My daughter has been attending Casa Bambini Blackburn for almost 3 years and I’ve been very pleased with the level of care she receives. She is always excited to go and comes home very happy. The centre is extremely safe, spacious & clean – I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the centre to any parent. Many thanks to the team at Casa Bambini for giving my child a fun and safe environment to be in and for allowing me to know that she is in safe hands when she is in your care.”
“We’re very happy with the team, facilities and atmosphere at Casa Bambini. The ladies in the nursery room are really lovely and create wonderful activities and fun for the kids everyday, as well as giving detailed feedback to us as parents.”
